Recently, DTS Corporation, Plantynet and Vietnam’s leading ISP – VDC, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on introducing the first “Green” Internet Service in Vietnam.
Today, computer and Internet become a popular and indispensable resource in Vietnamese especially for young generation. On the other hand, the gap in knowledge and understanding of using Internet between young generation and their parents is getting more and more bigger. It is very easy for young generation to access to harmful web sites without their parents’ knowing or bypassing their parents’ controlling by using many tricks which are easily obtained on internet like cracking software installed by parents on the computer or deleting any evidence left over on the computer... Understanding this concern, DTS, Plantynet and VDC are cooperating to introduce a webfiltering service namely “Green” Internet in November this year.

The “Green” Internet provided by DTS, Plantynet and VDC will help to keep users especially children from harmful website such as porno, violence, drug… by blocking access to those websites outside and inside Vietnam right at the ISP network with the blocking rate of 99%. This network-based web-filtering is a method that can overcome shortfalls of other method such as keyword-based web-filtering or using web-filtering software installed on PC or other measures to control the PC use… In addition, with this service, you do not need to know how to use computer at all.
Mr Vuong Manh Son, Chairman and General Director of DTS said: "The advantage of our service is that there is no way that computer users can disable this web blocking function. It relieves parents from concerns about their limited computer skill and knowledge to control their children. Moreover, the Green Internet also helps minimize the dangers from virus infection, spy-ware and other mal-wares which are normally present in harmful web sites."

The Green Internet has achieved remarkable success in Korea, China, Taiwan… With similarities in culture and moral value, DTS, Plantynet and VDC believe that this service will be welcomed in Vietnam.
Mr. Vu Hoang Lien, Director of VDC affirmed “Harmful websites have significantly had negative influence on social culture. Both government and parents have spent a lot of money and efforts to alleviate its adverse impact. As such, the introduction of Green Internet service has been longing for and it is a VDC affirmation to accompany with family and society in keeping Internet environment green for our next generation”.
